Exterior screens

Exterior screens are an effective exterior solar screening, which ensures comfortable light incidence and temperatures inside. The exterior screens are available in a wide range of colors, and can brighten up any wall, while at the same time shielding them from strong sunlight.

The outer blind

Screens act as exterior solar screening, and can best be compared to a regular indoor blind. The screen cloth is produced from fiberglass, which can withstand up to 85% of the sun’s rays and heat, as the screen cloth hangs in front of the window and thus has time to reflect the sunlight back before it hits the glass. At Merkur Gardiner, your screens are tailored to the dimensions of your windows, and you can get screens up to 6 meters in width and up to 6 meters in height. So screens are suitable for both large and small glass sections, for skylights and horizontal glass surfaces.

Better indoor climate with exterior screens

As the exterior screens are on the outside of the windows, the sun’s sharp and warm rays hit the tablecloth before the window panes themselves, preventing overheating of the rooms. The screens therefore contribute effectively to comfortable temperatures and natural light indoors, while at the same time shielding them from outside view. Even though the screen cloth is tightly woven, you still have full visibility when they are run down. Exterior screens work as a good alternative to fans and air conditioning in relation to room temperatures, as the rooms are never overheated, and with the bonus that they also screen for dazzling sunlight and minimize the home’s CO2 emissions.

Standard and zip model

You can choose between two types of screens, the standard or the zip model. Both solutions are mounted in a cassette above the window and with rails on each side down along the windows in which the screen cloth runs. This mounting ensures that no sunlight enters from the sides. Where the two solutions differ from each other is that the zip version is more robust against strong winds and rain, in fact the screen can be run down even if there are wind speeds of up to 20 meters per second. With the zip model’s unique zipper system, the screen cloth is locked in the side rails, which provides a tighter shielding and makes the cloth extremely wind stable and at the same time blocks insects.

Decorate the facade with the right screen

Sun protection does not have to have a practical function at all, it can also function as an aesthetic element, and since screens can cover an area of up to 18 square meters of your house wall, you can safely expect to find a screen cloth that suits your style. You can choose from five standard colors or have your screens made in a specific RAL color. The entire color palette can come into play, from greyish and Scandinavian tones to multi- and single-colored tablecloths in strong colors. All screen cloths are produced from fiberglass wires, which are coated with PVC coating, which makes the cloths fire-retardant, break-resistant and durable against sun rays, heavy rain and wind as well as fluctuating temperatures.

Motor and sensor operated screens

Since your screens are mounted outside, the motorized solution is most ideal. You can control the screens from the inside with a wall switch, remote control or app, run the screens up or down. Our motorized screens are comfortable with the Somfy Connexoon RTS and Somfy TaHoma® operating systems.

Get maximum comfort with a fully automatic sun and wind sensor, which moves the screen up and down depending on the sun’s light and heat intensity as well as the rain and the strength of the wind. In this way, you extend the life of the screens and ensure a comfortable indoor climate.
