From wasted plastic to curtain fabrics
In Denmark alone, 70 million plastic bottles are handed in in vending machines every year. However, plastic bottles also end up in nature, and for every time six plastic bottles are collected, it is recycled to 1 m2 fabric. At Merkur Gardiner, we sell Pagunette’s Recycled collection, where the textile fabrics consist of up to 100% recycled plastic. All textiles are OEKO-TEX® certified, and are therefore produced without the use of any harmful chemicals.

Choose compostable fabrics and protect the nature
With Jab Anstoetz’s collection, NatureProtect, you get textile solutions that minimize climate impact as much as possible. The collection has been developed with OceanSafe ™ technology in mind, so the textiles consist of organic cotton and 100% biodegradable synthetic fibers. Therefore, there will be no need to throw the textiles out or at the recycling site, they can just smoke in the compost pile. Unlike other textiles, which contain plastic residues, the degradation time is significantly reduced and is therefore more natural for the climate to compost itself.

Textiles that leave a positive imprint on the globe
The production of Jab Anstoetz’s NatureProtect collection takes place in southern Turkey, where the cotton is grown in the same place as it is harvested once a year. Emphasis is placed on the fact that production maximizes economic water use, uses short transport routes, uses renewable energy, and that spinning, weaving and post-mixing take place within a radius of 40 km. The entire collection is free of harmful chemicals, and in combination with the above climate roofs, the collection is cradle to cradle gold and platinum certified, which refers to the highest level of the goal of creating a world free of waste, and where products and production create the least negative consequences for people, the environment and nature.

Bamboo slats are something the climate like
Bamboo is a type of grass that grows faster than any other type of wood. In fact, the bamboo grows up to 1 meter a day, and it is even more durable than beech, oak and ash. This makes bamboo an extremely sustainable solution, as it can grow and be felled many times, in fact every two years, with an oak tree being felled every 25 years. In addition, bamboo is CO2-neutral throughout its life time. At Merkur Gardiner you can choose bamboo slats from our brand Stila, which are available in many shades.

Polyester in new shape
A lot can be gained from a climate perspective by recycling polyester, as recycled polyester reduces both energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, compared to a new production. In fact, recycled polyester is 66% less energy consuming and uses 90% less water when produced. You can choose vertical blinds and roller blinds that consist of recycled polyester from our brand Stila. The recycled polyester originally comes from plastic bottles collected in nature. Despite being less stressful on the climate, recycled polyester remains just as durable and retains its long durability as with commercial polyester. You can therefore choose sustainably without compromising on quality.

Old aluminum turns into new slats
Our aluminum venetian blinds from the brand Stila are produced from 98% recycled aluminum, and it is good for the environment for several reasons. By remelting aluminum rather than extracting new one, it is 92% less energy-intensive, as there is already aluminum to use. Therefore, the production of existing aluminum saves both on CO2 emissions and on the planet’s own resources. So when you choose your aluminum blinds from Stila, you choose sustainably.

Reduce heat loss and keep the temperature
With two-layer pleated blinds, known as duette and dupli blinds, a layer of stagnant air is created in the beehive-shaped pockets that are between the two layers of fabric. This beehive structure provides an insulating effect in winter and can reduce the heat flow through the windows significantly, up to 30%. You therefore compensate for the climate with double-layer pleated curtains, as the CO2 emissions from your home are immersed.
